Safety

This is not medical care and not a diagnosis or treatment.

Stop if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, tingling in the lips or fingers, chest pain, heart pounding or irregular beats, visual change, nausea, headache, or panic that is rising rather than settling. Sit or lie down. Breathe quietly, without controlling the breath, until it passes.

If chest pain, fainting, or trouble breathing does not settle, seek urgent care.

Do not practice breath holds, fast breathing, or eyes-closed walking while driving, in water, or standing if the practice is new.

Do not change or stop medication because of anything on this site.

You can read the safety page without starting a practice.

Acknowledgment screens

The wellness screen uses these words.

Breathe is general wellness. It is not medical care, not a diagnosis or treatment, and not a substitute for a clinician. Stop if you feel unwell. You continue at your own risk.

The held-breath screen uses these words.

This practice includes breath holds. Holds can make you dizzy. Stop if you feel unwell. This is still general wellness, not medical care. You continue at your own risk.

Opening this page does not record an acknowledgment and does not change settings.

Tiers

Tier A is paced breathing without a held breath. The practices in the catalog are tier A.

Tier B is paced breathing that adds a held breath. This page does not begin one.

Kapalabhati and bhastrika each have a one-minute Start. High ventilation has a two-minute Start. None of them sets a rate or a breath hold.
