Leave No Trace
The notes below are a short paraphrase for a walk from this site. They are not the Center's own wording.
- Before you leave, learn the weather, the rules for that place, and the condition of the path.
- Walk and pause on ground that already holds footsteps, such as a trail or rock.
- Carry out everything you brought, including food scraps.
- Leave stones, plants, and other finds where they are.
- Skip a fire when you can. If one is allowed, keep it small and make sure it is out.
- Watch animals from far away, and do not feed them.
- Keep voices low and leave space for other people.
The public principles are at the Leave No Trace Center.
